Each year, the geniuses at Pantone release their chosen Colour of the Year. And for years now, Swan Brand have managed to launch kitchen appliances to match said must-have colours. Since Pantone have recently awarded Very Peri to be 2022’s Colour of the Year, it seems like a perfect time to reflect on Swan’s past on-trend successes!

Pantone’s Colour of 2012
In 2012, Pantone’s colour of the year was feisty, featuring radiant vibrancies and a heated depth. And while the connotations of the colour wouldn’t usually go hand in hand with soft, curvy Retro edges, the combination worked a treat. These assets flowed so well together and quickly became one of the best-selling colours in the Swan Retro Range! 2012 was also the year Swan were working behind the scenes on releasing a range like no other, full of bright and eye-catching colours.

In 2013, Swan celebrated the very first launch of the Vintage (now Retro) Range. The items boasted deep Orange and Red colours that aligned perfectly with the on-trend shade. The launch took place at Exclusively Housewares 2013, and as you can see, many of the colours here are some of the best-selling even today!

Pantone’s Colour of 2020
In 2020, the Pantone colour of the year was Classic Blue. This rich, dark colour exposes the idea of a dark night sky and expansive presence, opening up an entire world of possibilities. Blue is sometimes representative of new beginnings, and Swan were by all means ready for this one!
Meanwhile (in 2020), Swan were in the process of launching a brand-new colour in their Nordic Range – Spruce Blue. This colour was the first of its kind amongst all other existing Swan products. Swan introduced the unique Nordic shade in January 2021 and the Spruce Blue Nordic Kettle, in particular, flew with popularity- especially after winning the Scarlet Opus Product Design On-Trend 2020 Award. The sleek assets of the Scandinavian-inspired range combined with the popular shade created a meant-to-be success.

Pantone’s Colour of 2021
In 2021, the colour Illuminating won Pantone Colour of the Year 2021. This colour is a spring-like yellow shade with a warm presence, providing a cheerful and bright yet subtle tone to welcome into your home. Similar colours have been used for years to add a pop of sunshine in the rooms you need it most.

Illuminating won in a joint-first position with Ultimate Gray, a sleek shade that promises to compliment any other. This calming shade of grey encourages feelings of composure, contentment and purpose. Its elusiveness resembles seaside pebbles and natural connotations, combined with versatility. Interior design trends have become more and more grey-focused, but here is some advice on making a grey room complete!
Ultimate Gray aligned beautifully with Swan’s existing Grey Retro Range, while Illuminating did the same with the launch of the brand’s additional Mellow Yellow Retro Range colour (2021). You might choose to use a colour like Illuminating around the home during the summer season with florals and similar poppy shades.

Pantone’s Colour of 2022
2022 is upon us, and so is Very Peri, the official winner of Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2022! The famous trend shade fashions a dynamic blue, joined by a violet-red undertone. The deep velveted purple shade leaves little to the imagination. The tones are futuristically appealing, coming across as inventive with faithful connotations. Creatives everywhere will be wearing and showing off this colour in their homes this year.

Swan just so happened to launch their Retro Lavender Purple colour addition in 2021. The Retro range now has that desired pop of Veri Peri that the world really needs right now! Swan have truly been a step ahead of the trend game this year. And the brand was rewarded for this when the Lavender Purple Retro Espresso Machine and Retro Bread Bin were featured on ITV’s This Morning (mid-January).
Very Peri is all in, and so is the Swan Retro Range. Find the complete Lavender Purple Retro Range here!

Swan also won on-trend awards for their Bubble-gum Pink and Peach Retro colours at Exclusively Houseware’s 2020 event. So, keep your eyes peeled.
