  • 400ml cup self-raising flour
  • 120ml milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 60ml butter, cut into cubes
  • 60ml cheddar cheese, grated
  • a pinch of cayenne peppers
  • a pinch salt

STEP 1

In a large bowl, add self-raising flour, salt, baking powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

STEP 2

Add small cubes of butter in the bowl and mix the ingredients using your fingers until you get a crumbly mixture. Add about 2/3 of cheese and mix. Don't mix too much; otherwise, the butter will start melting.

STEP 3

Make a well in the centre of the mixture and pour milk. Mix the ingredients to form a dough.

STEP 4

Flour the working station and take the dough out of the bowl onto the surface. Knead it a bit and, using a rolling pin, roll it until it has about 2 inches thickness.

STEP 5

Using an 8cm cookie cutter, cut circles for the scones. And place them on a parchment-lined baking tray.

STEP 6

Brush the top of each disc with milk and sprinkle the remaining cheese on the scone discs.

STEP 7

Place the baking tray in a preheated oven at 400-degree F for about 15 minutes or until they get a beautiful colour and are cooked through.

STEP 8

Serve.
