  • ½ kg minced beef
  • 1 ½ cup canned kidney beans, drained
  • 1 ½ cup canned tomatoes
  • 1 onion white, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef stock
  • ¾ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • ¼ tsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 ¼ tsp cumin
  • 1 ¼ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

STEP 1

In a Dutch oven, heat olive oil at medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the beef mince and cook for a minute while stirring.

STEP 2

Add oregano and cumin and cook until the mince gets brown colour.

STEP 3

Add minced garlic, tomato paste, chilli powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, brown sugar and salt. Mix well.

STEP 4

Pour the beef stock and scrape off the bits using a wooden spoon.

STEP 5

Add chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, kidney beans, bay leaf. mix and cover the Dutch oven with a lid.

STEP 6

Let it cook for about 8 hours at low heat. Once done, garnish and freshly chopped coriander and serve alongside rice.
