- 40g plain flour, sieved
- 40g butter
- 450ml milk
- 50ml double cream
- 1/2 tsp English mustard
- 1/2 whole nutmeg, ground
- 200g grated mature cheddar cheese
- 1 x 500g packet of macaroni, cooked in salt water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
STEP 1
To make the cheese sauce, heat the milk on the hob gently, do not boil.
STEP 2
In a separate pan, begin to melt the 40g butter and after this, grab the flour and pour this in to mix for a couple of minutes stirring constantly.
STEP 3
This mixture will become viscous, so begin to add milk slowly to this in order to make this a creamy substance.
STEP 4
Add the salt, pepper and nutmeg and stir through the mustard.
STEP 5
Remove from the heat and stir through the cheese and then cream to make the cheese sauce.
STEP 6
Mix in the cooked macaroni.
STEP 7
Place this mixture into a deep pan plate and put this on your grill.
STEP 8
Season this with some more cheese over the top and cook on a medium heat.
STEP 9
Before you close the lid, attach some baking paper over the top to keep your grill clean!
STEP 10
After 5 minutes the cheese will have melted and you can enjoy!
