Pat and Johns Swan heritage story
We are delighted to share this heart-warming story, loved and cherished since 1955, now a piece of Swan history. Once given as a gift of celebration and never to lose its sentiment. Through decades of being at the heart of a family. Over-seeing four generations, along with priceless memories, laughs and comforting meals – a real marriage made in heaven.
Meet Pat and John, happily married since their early twenties. They received this Swan colander as an engagement gift back in 1955, now 65 years on, it is still being used to this day! Since moving into their first bought home, their family has expanded into several generations, with home-cooked food always inviting passion and even chaos.
Their daughter reminisced how “it was always an open house; mum would feed anybody and everybody who used to visit. Dinner time was chaotic, chatty and warm with good home-cooked food”. Pat cooked for the hearts of anyone who visited, using her trusty gift still to this day. Welcoming anyone with open arms, spreading her love for cooking and bringing people together.
The colander has overseen four generations of hearty cooking, continuing the reliable foundation which stands the test of time like any successful marriage.
