- 6 large eggs
- 100g sugar
- 950ml milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1tsp nutmeg
- 1 loaf day-old brioche bread, sliced 1" thick
- 2 tbsp butter
- Syrup, for serving
STEP 1
Grab a large bowl and add your eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg. Whisk thoroughly.
STEP 2
Layer your brioche slices in a shallow baking dish.
STEP 3
Pour the mixture over this and allow it to absorb for around 3 minutes to get the most moisture into the bread.
STEP 4
After this time, flip the bread over in the dish and leave for a further 3 minutes to ensure the bread is fully coated.
STEP 5
Preheat the grill.
STEP 6
Cook the slices of soaked bread on the grill and wait until it is crispy and golden.
STEP 7
To help with the browning and to accentuate the taste, add some butter to the grill as necessary.
STEP 8
Put the slices in the oven on a lower heat to keep this warm whilst you are grilling the other slices of bread.
STEP 9
All done and ready to be served alongside sugar, bacon, some fruit, or topped with syrup!
